Probably you’ve tried writing in a journal or diary once in your life (say when you were in elementary school and your teacher forced you to do it). Or maybe you have never tried it but often thought about it or you just hate the thought of ACTUALLY WRITING STUFF DOWN in a journal? But do you know that it can actually help you be a better person and help you even attract good karma and vibrations into your life? Keeping and WRITING in a journal is something even experts say that can help you lead a happy and healthy life.
When I was a nine I had a journal I loved it a lot. It was my safe place and my secret keeper. It was the place where I can pour my heart out. But my mom decided to read it. So for many years I kept away from journal for the fear of intrusion. Recently my friends all collect over priced planners that you only get if you drink like twenty-four overly priced cups of coffee from a famous coffee shop. I got really tempted to go back to journaling. I thought it would be a great idea. So I went to the bookstore to buy one. From there, I told my self that this can help me and so I mulled over the great benefits of having a and ACTUALLY WRITING in a journal.
Benefits of Keeping a Journal
Many famous people have journal because it is a good way to remember what has happened and also to leave a legacy behind. It is also a great way to write your plans, hopes and dreams. When you write something down, you can actually attract good karma and vibrations and allow you to commune with the universe. It also very healing and soothing to allow your thoughts and feeling pour down on paper. You can even actually travel back in time just by reading your own words and picture the events that happened in the past.
Today I have written my first ever journal entry after twenty one years of not having a journal. I have often relied on technology like my laptop and my phone to write my thoughts and feelings down. I have often felt that I’m way too busy to stop and write down any thing. But after writing that first entry, I realized that this can really help me in growing more.
It is Cure for the Soul
When you start writing down your thoughts and feelings, you allow your mind to flow. You will yourself to actually think what to write down and put into words all the mixed up feelings you have. If you are sad and lonely, this can allow you to examine your feelings and how to recover from this heart ache. If you are happy, it can be joyous thing to actually document this wonderful moment in your life. By writing down what you feel, you help cure your soul and become whole again no matter what you are going through. To keep and write in a journal is a very good way to find inner peace.
It is a Good Way To Reminisce
Well one of the many reasons why people keep a journal is that they want to remember. They want to journey back in time and visit that place where they felt something sad, happy, exciting or even scary. We can document things with pictures or even Facebook posts or Tumblr mussings but there is something powerful with writing it down. Your mind actually functions in a different way when you write. Research has shown that by writing, we increase the amount of recall that we have. By putting things down, whether in paper journal, blog or a phone journal we can remember things and visit these memories.
You Can Improve Your Creativity
By writing, you can channel your creative powers by spinning words and sentences together. It allows you mind to actually pump out the words. People naturally try to put in words that actually depict their feelings and intentions. This makes keeping a diary a good way to practice. If you are like me, who loves writing then this is a very good avenue to write FOR YOU. Some people write stuff on Facebook or Twitter so that others can read what they are thinking of but in journaling, you can write to help you and no one else. By this you can funny, angry, sad or scared and this things are beautiful. They fuel your mind with thoughts and feelings that you can actually use in your day to day life. It is like painting but instead of using a brush, you use a pen or a blog.
Channel THE POWER OF ATTRACTION
When you write something down, you call the power of the universe in. You can allow the power of your thought and your feelings to mingle with something animate, like a page in a notebook, a web post or in an app. By writing something down, you are actually connecting your desires into something physical. You want to be thinner? Write it down! You want to be promoted? Write it down. When you write something, you not only decide that you MUST have this thing but you also materialize this thought.
After the thought is put down on paper, blog or app your soul consciously aims for this thing. You start working harder and you start exercising or eating healthy. Some people even write down how they plan to exercise for the week. They put down these thoughts and you aim for them. Mean while, the universe now sees that you have actually put it in a form that is REAL. This written plan is filled with cosmic energy. It makes you and the universe one in attracting this blessings. The Law of Attraction basically states that whatever you think of and actually visualize materializes. Positivity pulls in positivity and negativity pulls in negativity.
Types of Journals That Actually Make Your Life Rock
Most people keep one or two journals but one of my blogger friends keep five journals. I mean yeah that might be too much for some but it is a good way to divide things up. If you blog, then you can keep five menus on your blog. These five journals are centered on Life (what happens), Plans, Traveling, Food and Health and Creative Things to Do. Well you may opt for less diaries if you feel you don’t need as much but for me, I would consider having Life, Plans, Food and Health and Traveling. I would like to have the Creative Things to Do but right now I may not have the time for this. You can always opt for a college notebook with dividers to keep everything in one place or use different notebooks or blogs.
The reason why you should have different journals is to keep things organized as you WORK ON YOU. There should be a place to put your memories, a place where you put your future plans and dreams on, a place to keep your health and food intake in check and a place for your adventures and travels. I know some people would say that this Travel and Life can go together, well technically they can but if you want to really travel and travel a lot, then you should it keep separate.
This journal is your memoir, if you have one you will surely grow old happy and wise. It is a place to keep thoughts about how you have solved a problem in life, how you spent days and so on. It is a place to reexamine how you are living your life. It is a place to let all your fears and worries out.
Well you need to dream. The universe helps those who actually put down their intentions. So for you to get something, YOU MUST WRITE IT DOWN.
Food and Health
Researches have found out that people who actually track their food and exercise are the ones who actually stick to a healthy diet more and exercise regularly. By actually planning to exercise and ticking off those scheduled workout sessions we feel milestones and gain confidence in this journey. I know that losing weight is difficult, very difficult, but by writing it down you can do this task and feel better about it. You can rejoice in achieving losing some pounds and the ability to fight off a doughnut. You can also remind yourself why you actually ate those chips when you were sad. It helps you reach your goal easier.
You might say that you don’t even travel so why have one? Well my friend told me that before, she did not travel so much, but when she actually blogged about it, she got hooked on traveling. It allowed her to share her wonderful experiences with others. On the other hand, if you want to keep a paper journal for your travels, then it is still wise. It helps you remember your journey and also it is a good way to note down what you learned from travelling.
Creative Stuff to Do
Even if you are nine, nineteen, twenty nine or even ninety-nine you can always plan to learn a new instrument, learn how to paint and so on. If you are always thinking what to do next why not plan to improve on yourself? Learn how to cook and document your recipes. You can learn how to play the guitar and actually write about it. Journaling is a very good way to connect your creative plans and make them happen.
Well some people are good at money while others are not. But I know this may be taxing but if you don’t know how five lattes a week can actually pay for a car down payment in about eight months then you need to start making a journal for your expenses. You can probably use an app for this as this would be more convenient and it would be at your finger tips. You may opt to write it down in a notebook so you can add things up. This will help you still save even if your salary is not too high.
Journaling may seem daunting at first. It is something to a lot time to and for busy people they will say they don’t have time. But in truth, the busier you are, the more you need to write your thoughts, feelings and plans. You need to have that cathartic place. You need to plan your life and look forward to it. Trust me on this, the universe will help you more if you put down your hopes in to a medium like paper or the internet.
