What is the Difference of Twin Flames and Soul Mates?
The term Twin Flames and Soul Mates have often been used interchangeably but is there a difference between these two?
The term Twin Flames and Soul Mates have often been used interchangeably but is there a difference between these two? When I was young and did not have much knowledge yet about the subject of Twin Flames and Soul Mates, I thought that they were one and the same I have often thought that a person can only have one soul mate for the rest of his or her life and that is always possible to meet that person in a particular lifetime.
As the years past and I learned more and discovered about other concepts outside the walls of my Catholic family, I learned more and more about esoteric wisdom. This made me realize universal and unifying such as Karma, Yin and Yang, Paganism, Twin Flames and Soul Mates.
Soul Mates
Soul Mates are two souls made to be help mates in particular lifetime. As the word suggest Soul + Mate. This pairing is meant to lead an individual to being a better person or allowing healing in times of distress.
There is basically three kinds of relationships in life according to the Law of Karma. First is the Karmic Relationship, then Soul Mates and finally Twin Flames. Karmic relationships is a kind of relationship that puts two souls together in order for them to do a corrective action for a wrong doing done in the past. Sometimes only one of the individuals owe the other, for example the mother is the one that owes and her child is the soul of a person she has done wrong in the past. She is now charged to care of the other due to the need that is called to be fulfilled from the past. Karmic relationships can also be mutual souls that owe each other in the past. This is normally seen in the form of bad marriages or colleagues. They are often put in relationship that one cannot simply step out of and are forced to work together. This in turn corrects the wrong doings in the past and allows healing. It is not a form of punishment but rather a cleansing process, much like putting gold in a kiln to shape it into a fine jewellery.
On the other hand there are the Soul Mates. Soul Mates are two souls made to be help mates in particular lifetime. As the word suggest Soul + Mate. This pairing is meant to lead an individual to being a better person or allowing healing in times of distress. We can have more than one Soul Mate at any given time. This person is like an ultimate friend or partner. We feel that they truly complement our energy and that they help us towards being a complete individual. They assist us in times of confusion and hardships. Soul Mates are people we can actually talk and laugh with without any pretention. There is rarely any friction between Soul Mate. If there is any, then it is because both love one another a lot and need to push each other to the best direction or of too much care and concern.
Soul Mates can be our family members that we feel most akin to. They can be our friends who we treat more than we would treat our own blood. They can also be great romantic partners. These people fill a happy spark within us. When we fall in love with a Soul Mate, we normally find the relationship nurturing and allows us to grow as individuals. You may not be perfect puzzle pieces that fit with each other; still different in some facets but always connecting and complementing one another.
Twin Flames
Twin Flames or Twin Souls are matching spirits that normally fit each other like a glove. They are the ultimate Soul Mates.

It has been said that a being’s soul is normally conceived as a whole but divided into two parts. This is the Yin and Yang side or the Male and Female energies. But unlike what people think that they are truly incomplete unless they find they twin flame, this is not so. Each flame is totally whole by themselves much like when lighting a two candles from one match; both flames of the flames come from one source but burn individually.
So just like the allegory of the two candles, each is flame is tasked to burn to provide light until they find completeness and then they can now be melted and made whole together. Once the Twin Flames meet they feel an instant connection. It is very easy for them open up to one another. Unlike what most people think that they feel that their heart is thumping due to sexual energy from the other person, a true meeting of a matching flame would give you a calm feeling. There can be sexual attraction but it not just like that. It more like being attracted to the person sexually because you are attracted to them in spiritual level; like you want to consummate your need to be one with their spirit.
Twin Flames normally have to undergo a very long process of cleansing before they even meet each other in particular lifetime. They are normally put through different places and situations to experience life and karmic change until they find their purpose and then that is the time they will finally meet each other. Often times they are born far away from one another into different times and classes. They feel the longing for their Partner Soul. Normally we are lucky to see them in our dreams and visions as we meditate.
By the time we finally meet them. It would take us several lifetimes to finally reach this level. At this point we have become very old souls. When Twins are born in the same place and time they normally are now at the stage of feeling much focus on their life goal and life mission. They see that they need to help change the world to make it better. At this stage it is often when one is least looking for his or her twin flame that we find them. In our heart of hearts, yes we do long for them but this not make our worlds go round. It means that you do not put all your energy into being hell bent into getting married or having a partner, but rather you are trying to create a more peaceful world.
Once the Twin Flames meet, they often feel attuned to one another. There is great pull that we feel towards our True Partner. But sometimes one of the Flames feel that the pull is too strong and makes him or her move away. There may also times when both Twins find that the partnership is not viable or suitable to create. They then just become helpmates instead of romantic partners. This often happens because both now understand they do not really need to be intimately linked to share this eternal bond. Both or one may already be married or they have a significant age gap that being in a romantic relationship is going to cause turmoil rather than good. Twin Flame union mean that both are now ready to bring out goodness in the world by working together. Their love for another is not selfish or ill consuming; it is something that leads to greater good.
If you are still looking for your Twin Flame be not discouraged. You may try to find some clues who this person is by meditation or by having emphatic psychic readings. You may try looking into your past life as well. You may also need to accept that the other Flame is not meant to be your lifetime partner but rather it is Soul Mate that you need to have in order for you to grow and reach the ultimate goodness.
